Budgens – 17th and 20th January 2006.  Leatherhead Research International.
Budgens are committed to local food and want to develop a special section featuring local Surrey produce in their 10 Surrey stores. Come along in January for an opportunity to present your products to Jonathan Bayne. Budgens are “farmer friendly” and will help you through the process. Product categories are deli, dairy, bread, cakes, meat products, crisps, snacks, biscuits, fruit juice, beer, wine, cider, spirits.

EFSIS Quality Assurance

EFSIS is an all-encompassing food safety audit. It is one of the leading quality assurance schemes for food producing businesses and is widely accepted by supermarkets, the hospitality industry and public sector (eg Schools). Cost is £500, but Surrey Food Links food group members are entitled to a £200 subsidy. Offer open until December 2005.

A new distributor in the South East....County Produce Marketing

County Produce Marketing Ltd is a newly formed South East Regional food distribution company. They have over 70 independent food and drink companies from Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire and are keen to sign up  more producers from Surrey. Products can be purchased either by collection or directly on a daily basis. They supply independent retailers, restaurants & hotels, catering companies and supermarkets.

Taste of Britain Award - deadline 15 December 2005.

The Daily Telegraph has launched in cooperation with Sainsbury's and DEFRA a competition to 'highlight and celebrate all things great and good from within the Great British Food Industry.' There are 5 categories: Best UK food, Best UK drink, Best Regional food, Best organic food, Best seasonal food.
